Upin & Ipin is a beloved Malaysian animated series that captures the simple, joyful, and often mischievous daily lives of 5-year-old twin brothers, Upin and Ipin. The show, created by Les' Copaque Production, is set in the idyllic, fictional village of Kampung Durian Runtuh and is known for its vibrant, colorful computer-generated imagery. 

The main characters and their world
The series revolves around the eponymous twins, who are easily distinguished despite being bald. Upin, the slightly older and more talkative twin, has a single lock of hair and wears a yellow shirt marked with the letter "U". His younger brother, Ipin, has no hair, sports a blue shirt with an "I," and is famous for his catchphrase, "Betul, betul, betul!" (Correct, correct, correct!). 
Having lost their parents as infants, the twins are raised by their loving but firm grandmother, Uda (or "Opah"), and their protective teenage sister, Ros. Their adventures take place with a diverse group of kindergarten friends, who represent Malaysia's multicultural society: 
Mei Mei: An adorable, intelligent Chinese girl.
Jarjit Singh: A witty Sikh boy who speaks in rhyme.
Ehsan: A pampered, slightly clumsy boy.
Fizi: Ehsan's more sarcastic and easygoing best friend.
Mail: A budding entrepreneur known for his "two for one ringgit" deals on fried chicken.
Susanti: An Indonesian girl who moves to the village. 
Storytelling and themes
Each episode features a simple, easy-to-understand storyline that teaches children about the world and important moral lessons. The series is praised for promoting positive values, including: 
Friendship and respect across different cultures and races.
Honesty, responsibility, and loyalty.
The importance of family and community bonds.
Islamic values and Malaysian culture, with special episodes for Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr. 
Beyond the episodic series, the franchise has expanded to include several feature films, such as the critically acclaimed Upin & Ipin: The Lone Gibbon Kris. This film, released in 2019, featured the twins and their friends transported to a magical kingdom from Malaysian folklore. The show's immense popularity has also led to a wide range of merchandise and stage shows.
